Paper Article - Senior Open in France (Kata)
Published article on Alicia Bezier, a member of our sister club in Nouvelle Caledonie. The article is in French, but has been translated for us into English by her coach Clement Leroux.
Article . . . .
Montpellier seems to
become the new place for caledonians karateka. As Minh Dack and Jean-Christophe
Taumotekava, Alicia Bezier choose this city for her studies instead of Paris
because both where here and although she is not yet in the National team, she can train in the French National team dojo.
Alicia trains alone or sometime with Minh Dack who can provide very important
tips. She can also count on her coach in NC (Clement LEROUX) and to another in New Zealand with Sensei Bob Dalton, where she also trained, and who is also following Alicia progress, thanks to
videos.
She knows she can improve as she's still lacks explosivity, muscles and
indurance. This lacks meant that she was beaten on the first round of the open "Karaté 1 premiere league" by Rimi Kajikawa (5-0)
Alicia said " this was very interesting to be, all day long with the best
karateka in the world and that gives me more motivation to improve".
Alicia will probably enter the "Milon cup" on February the 16th which
can be a good preparation for the National in April and to test other
katas.
The National where she will compete will be for the first time as a Senior and she wants
to continue with her success (3 bronze medal in 3 enters in the youth categories). Her dream
is to be able to compete in the final within several years.
Her coach Clement LEROUX is less ambitious and said that this time is much more
to be familiar with the Senior level. Podium will become an aim in 2-3 years.
Alicia is a hard worker, clever which makes her very quickly understand
where to improve. She knows very well how to manage big event stress despite
at time being a bit emotive. The challenge will be to keep the motivation while training alone and
to try to forget the "standard in Karaté" and to find her own way of
performing her own Karaté. It becomes to happen.
The young Alicia
Bézier (left), here at the Pacific Games (NC 2011), hopes one day to compete in
a National final in kata.
