2015 Hamilton Open - Sunday 29th March 2015

The tournament year for karatedo Shitokai started with the Hamilton Open. After Sensei Bobs death it was  hard to get back into training and the students did very well under difficult circumstances, especially for Yvette who was one of Bob’s main students.

With the joining of all the clubs, we took a small team with Yvette being the only representative from ‘Bob’s Club’, the rest from the Kamo Club.

At the start of the tournament, a minute silence was held for Shihan Bob Dalton which was very kind of Wado Kai as Bob and the late Robbie Smith had tremendous respect for each other.

We had mixed results with some things going our way and some not but as Sensei Bob always said ‘Hey that’s Karate, get on with it.’

We came home with one gold and six silvers, the highlight being Matt Burns winning in the Open Male Kumite.  Holly and Sophie both gained valuable mat time with Holly having her first premier fight and coming home with two silvers and once again the reliable Dean Weber taking home two silvers in the Vets Section.

Another well run tournament but a lot for us to work on.
