2015 Shitokai New Zealand Dan Gradings

2015 Shitokai New Zealand DAN Grading - Saturday 7th December 2015

This year DAN grading’s, held in Whangarei Honbu on the 7th November 2015 was touched with both joy and remembrance, this being the first DAN grading since the passing of Sensei Bob Dalton earlier this year and also being the largest grading so far in Karatedo Shitokai history. It was also with pleasure that Sensei Bob wife, Auretta Dalton attended the certificate ceremony.

This year 10 gradees went for their Shodans and one Nidan, making a very long day for instructors and gradees alike.

Support from family, friends and club members were appreciated, especially once the spirit section of first kumite, then the physical requirements.

Everyone perform well, and it is with great pleasure to announce that there was a 100% pass rate.

The 10 Shodans were: Cameron Evans, Conor Lynch, Adam Faithfull, Jacob Wood, Issac Jones, Georgia Higgins, Penny Lynch, Shelley Henderson, Laura Jones, Georgia Redfern.

In addition, Maurice Jennings went for his Nidan, demonstrating bunkai and self defence. Maurice put in some hard work and even made contact in his enthusiasm of performing a head butt technique.

It was also the largest Black belt after function BBQ with Sensei Murray and his wife Nicky hosting it at their home on the farm. This year everyone involved in the grading were invited so we had a few brown belts as well. A few bruises were on display, however it didn't appear to have dampen their spirits.

Karatedo Shitokai is steadily growing in strength and as an organisation. 2016 promises another busy year continuation with our sister club Nouvelle Caledonie and Hasegawa Sensei and a new competition season. However, this is all about our successful gradees below, and so congratulations to all.
