posted by Dukenukem on | under Local Events2016 SOKE Kenyu Mabuni Visit - 29th August 2016
In the afternoon, Soke Mabuni took us through the Kata Papuren, a Chinese Kata (Sister Kata to Nipaipo and Hafufa) taught to Kenwa Mabuni by Wu Xiam Gui. On Sunday was the Mabuni Tournament again hosted by Sensei Johnny Ling. Karatedo Shitokai NZ sent down 13 competitors. On Monday our club had the privilege of hosting Sensei Johnny ling, Sensei Con Kassis and Soke Mabuni for the day. We took them fishing on a launch out of Tutukaka and to be fair it was a bit rough. Sensei Con Kassis is a keen fisherman and loved the day but for the rest of us it was more of a time to forage friendships with Soke Mabuni, Con Kassis and Johnny Ling than a fishing trip, catching just one fish. That night Soke Mabuni, Sensei’s Johnny and Con came to our Dojo to watch the training. We had quite a full club with just a few missing, thanks to Sempai Matt Redfern and Matt Burns for running the classes while I showed the visitors around. It is hoped that Soke Mabuni’s visit will be the first of many and as long as we offer fishing Sensei Con Kassis will certainly be back. Sensei Johnny Ling must be congratulated on organising the visit, our club certainly learnt a lot and enjoyed it. We look forward to the next visits. ![]() Soke Kenyu Mabuni(Centre) and Shitokai New Zealand ![]() Tournament Attendees ![]() Karatedo Shitokai Dojo London-Rose with Soke Kenyu Mabuni ![]() London-Rose with Soke Kenyu Mabuni, Sensei Con Kassis and Sensei Johnny Ling | Karatedo Shitokai New Zealand
