Karatedo Shitokai New Zealand had one of its up and coming youngsters, Yvette Hendrikse in the New Zealand team to the 2105 Oceania Karate Champs in Fiji recently. Yvette represented New Zealand in 12/13 girls Kata and won Bronze. It was a very pleasing result for Yvette, as this was her first year of serious competition.

2014 Hamilton Open - Sunday 30th March 2014
The Hamilton Open was the start of Karatedo Shitokai’s first tournament of the year, and, as usual, Sensei Robbie Smith and his organising team ran a superb event, with over 250 competitors attending. It made for a huge day, but all events ran like clockwork, a tribute to the organising skills of all concerned. With 250+ competitors, it would have to have been easily New Zealand’s biggest ...

2014 Sayonara Zara - Saturday 22nd February 2014
It is with great sadness that Karatedo Shitokai Honbu dojo says sayonara to one of our Dan grades, Zara Wech, although hopefully, temporarily. Zara is moving to Hamilton to attend Waikato University, studying early childhood education, a three year course. Zara has been a student of Sensei Bob since early 2007 when she joined as an 11 year old, and, from day one she was a standout ...

The traditional Karatedo Shitokai New Zealand Dan gradings were held at Honbu dojo in Whangarei on 14th December.
This year was the biggest grading group for our organisation, with seven gradees (one Nidan and six Shodans, including three Junior Shodans). As usual the gradings were hard, with each gradee performing individually, making for a very long day. There was once again good support from family ...

2013 World Shitoryu Karate Federation Championships - Tokyo - Japan 15th-16th September
Karatedo Shitokai New Zealand, and our sister club Association Shitoryu Karatedo New Caledonia both sent teams to these championships. Both organisations combined as a group, staying in the same hotel, on the same floor, and attending the tournament together, and, as we were alphabetically one after the other, marching on together. Both organisations have a great relationship with each other, and the mutual friendship ...
