2010 Shitokai New Zealand DAN Grading - Saturday 11th December 2010
Karatedo Shitokai - Saturday 11th December marked another year where hopefuls were going for the Dan grades. This year Matt Redfern and Aaron Springford were grading for their Shodan and Matt Burns for his Nidan.

2010 Northland Sports Awards 3rd December 2010
On the 3rd December, the Northland Sports Awards were held at Kensington stadium, Whangarei. This is an annual affair where the best of Northland sports men and women gather for recognition of their acheivements over the past year. This year Shitokai New Zealand had two finalists, Matthew and Nicky in the code award section, winning both the male and female code awards

2010 Manawatu Championships - 21 November 2010
The Manawatu Champs was held in Palmerston North on the 21 November, organised by Gregor McLachlan of Wado Kai Palmerston North School of karate. Attendance was good with 90 competitors from seven clubs, four from the main stream styles in Palmerston North and the other three from Foxton, Levin and Wellington.

2010 Oceania, Tahiti, 16-19th September 2010
This year, Oceania was held in Tahiti and Shitokai New Zealand had three students selected for the New Zealand Team. They were Matt Burns for Junior male Kumite, Zara Wech for Cadet female Kumite and Nicky Roberts for -21 and Senior women Kata. Like all Oceania competitions, it was a very big tournament with Australia entering 46 & NZ entering 42 players. NZ was totally dominant, securing 31 Gold to 15 for Australia, including outscoring Australia in Silver medals. Australia, however took more Bronze medals which meant most finals were all New Zealand. New Zealand ...

Sensei Goshi Yamaguchi 7th September 2010
In September 2010, Master Goshi Yamaguchi visited New Zealand as part of the Japanese Festival held in Wellington and later put on a demonstration, followed by a seminar presented by Lynsay Johnson of I.K.G.A Goguryu New Zealand. Suffice to say, there was a strong attendance with the majority being Gojuryu but also very well represented by Shotokan, Wadoryu and of course, Kieran and myself represented Shitoryu.

2010 Northland Open Championships - 7th March 2010
This year our club organised and the Northland Open Karate Champs. The competition attracted over 90 entries from Auckland and Hamilton (many many thanks to all the clubs who supported us, especially WadoKai, Jyoshinmon & SKANZ), with 15 from Shitokai New Zealand.
As far as our club is concerned, we had a most successful day results wise with many younger competitors entering for the first. ...
