2012 Shitokai New Zealand DAN Grading - Saturday 15th December 2012
 
Our now traditional Dan grading day was held on Saturday 15th December, and this year our organisation welcomed five new Shodans to our numbers. They are:

2012 Sensei Fumio Demura

On the 1st December, Sensei Bob attended an excellent seminar in Auckland conducted by Sensei Fumio Demura, who was brought out by Sensei Dennis May.

2012 Manawatu Championship  - Sunday 25th November 2012
 
The Manawatu Champs recently held in Palmerston North, provided another success for Karatedo Shitokai with Kieran Nuku winning the Male Cadet Premier Kata division, taking straight flags for the three kata's starting with Seienchin, Nipaipo and finally Koskunsho.

2012 New Zealand Nationals and Secondary School Championships 7-8 July 2012

The Karate New Zealand National and Secondary School Championships were held 7-8 July in Porirua at the Te Rauparaha Arena. Karatedo Shitokai New Zealand had only three competitors this year, Zara and Yvette from Whangarei and Kieran from Palmerston North.

2012 Association Shitoryu Karatedo Nouvelle Caledonie Dan Gradings

Our sister club in Noumea, recently had three of its members graded to Nidan and Shodan, by the French Karate Association. 2012 Central North Island Open Karate Championships - 17th June 2012

Karatedo Shitokai sent a small team of five competitors to the 2012 Central North Island Open Karate Championships, including three young 10 and 11 year olds, Olivia Crum, Yvette Hendrickse and Harrison Higgins, including Nicky Roberts, the 2011 Northland Sportswoman of the Year, and Zara Wech, the 2011 Northland Secondary Schools Sportswoman of the Year.

2012 New Zealand Open - Christchurch 14-15th April 2012

This year Shitokai New Zealand took 3 competitors to the New Zealand Open, because of the costs involved and there was no development section. We have several young members with great potential, but to send them to compete against premier players would only increase cost with very little gain. it is far better for them to compete closer to home to gain experience.

2012 French National Championships

The 2012 French National championships were held in Paris on the 3rd March 2012, and Alicia Bezier from our New Caledonia sister club, competed in the Junior Women Kata.
