Shitokai New Zealand - Club News and Events

Manawatu Champs 2010

The Manawatu Champs was held in Palmerston North on the 21 November, organised by Gregor McLachlan of Wado Kai Palmerston North School of karate. Attendance was good with 90 competitors from seven clubs, four from the main stream styles in Palmerston North and the other three from Foxton, Levin and Wellington.

For Karate Do Shitokai New Zealand, results were excellent with Kieran Nuku winning both the 12-15 year premier kata and the Mens open kata. Dave Nuku taking 3rd in the Mens open kata and Ann Nuku taking 2nd in the Womens open kata, narrowly missing top honours.

Kumite provided excellent entertainment, especially in the Mens open with Barney Gill dominating the field with some very matrix like moves and speed. Dave Nuku
