2011 French Open - Alicia Bezier

Alicia Bezier - 3rd at the 2011 French Open Championships
Alicia Bezier from our sister club in New Caledonia, ASSOCIATION SHITORYU KARATEDO NOUVELLE CALEDONIE, has had some great success at the 2011 French Open Karate Championships. Alicia came 3rd in the Junior Women Kata, (16/17yrs) in a big field of 54 competitors. This is not Alicia's first French Open success, as last year she also came 3rd in the cadet division (14/15 yrs).
The French Open is one of the major European Open competitions, with some tough competition. Alicia had to compete in 6 rounds, and her katas performed are as follows:
Round 1 Bassaidai won 5-0
Round 2 Suparinpei won 5-0
Round 3 Anan won 3-2
Round 4 Nipaipo won 3-2
Semi Final
Chatanyara against reigning French Champion lost 0-5
Repecharge for 3rd place
Anan won 5-0
An excellent result, showing that Alicia has huge potential. Also of note, is that Alicia also competed in the Junior Woman Kata at the 2010 Oceania competition where acheived 2nd placing.
Alicia’s goal for 2011 is to be selected for New Caledonia for the South Pacific Games, in September in Noumea.
Karatedo Shitokai NZ are proud to be associated with Alicia and her club - well done Alicia! BD
