![]() | Karatdo Shitokai New Zealand actively competes in International, National and Local competitions, as well as having many members who have been New Zealand Representatives at the World Championships and Oceania Tournaments.
All classes are mixed, with adults and children training together with all gradings being conducted under the World Shitokai Karate Federation grading guidelines.
Training is focussed on Kihon, Kata and Self Defence systems. Specilised training is provided for advance students who are competing in Kumite and Kata events.
Karate training and self defence has multiple benefits. You will learn karate kihon (basics), kata (fight sequences and bunkai), kumite (sparring) and how these can be applied to techniques for self defence.
As you progress through your training, you will be challenged physically and mentally and at times you may just feel that it is all to much. It is at those times when your karate training will begin to work for you and with mental and physical practice, your mind and body will adjust and hence, your overall well being.
Continued training will improve your coordination, balance, self confidence, fitness, flexibility and mental concentration.
