2016 Shitokai New Zealand DAN Grading - Saturday 3rd December 2016

The most anticipated calendar event of the year. This year we had eight students who had been training all year for this day. It is a long tough day but well worth it in the end.

This year we had Dean, Holly and Sophie Weber, Elliot Jones, Joshua Kenyon, Alyssa Hendrikse, Tyla Redfern and Bruno Marotta all grading.

It was probably tougher for their Instructor Sempai Matt Redfern who has trained them all year, than it was for the grades’.

It was a great day with all of them showing the skill and the spirit required to be a Shitokai Shodan.

Thanks to all the club members who helped out on the day, we had an impressive array of fighters and our grades’ were well tested.

Congratulations to our new Shodan, as I said on grading day your karate starts now and you should strive to be a good Shodan, it is a grade you carry for life and you strive to be worthy of the grade bestowed on you in all facets of your life.

That said, enjoy your summer and we look forward to starting back at training in the New Year.
